Healings of alcohol addiction

Healing from alcohol and drug addiction and duodenal ulcers

S. T. (53), Springe (Germany)

After my sister's death in 1974, I had serious stomach aches with ulcers. I got tablets and injections against the severe pain. As no improvement occurred, gastric examinations were made in regular intervals. The diagnosis was chronic stomach and duodenal ulcer. I should learn to live with recurrent ulcers. After 20 years of pain (1994) I was totally down and had no more hope. I pepped myself up with alcohol. At first it was wine, later schnapps and finally I drank up to 2/3 quart daily. With the daily alcohol consumption I became unreliable and lost my job. Additionally I took lots of painkillers and tranquilizers, among others Valium.

Healing from alcohol addiction

U. H. (33), Freising (Germany)

I drank alcohol regularly since I was 17 years old, mostly beer, generally to the point when I just couldn't drink any more. I started drinking in the morning. As I had stopped my apprenticeship and often was without a job for longer periods, my debts grew due to the alcohol consumption. Drinking made me aggressive and I had partnership problems. When I did find a job again I even drank some beer there and at home continued with up to one bottle of wine a day with some glasses of schnapps in between.

Healing from abuse of alcohol and prescription drugs

E. S. (48), Bremerhaven (Germany)

I was a single mother employed in a difficult job, and as a result of personal problems drank alcohol regularly since I was 27 years old (1981). I took tranquilizers and sleeping tablets daily, in double the prescribed dose. I tried several times to withdraw at home, but inevitably found that after two or three months I ended up in relapse. During these periods I used to consume one to two bottles of vodka a day over a period of two or three weeks. Normally I was fearful and depressive, but when I drank I became aggressive. I had very disturbed sleep.

Healing from nicotine and alcohol addiction

J. B. (59), Bielefeld (Germany)

I smoked for approximately 33 years and at the end I smoked about 60 cigarettes a day. During the night my coughing interrupted my sleep and I became nervous and irritable. I became short of breath whenever I was under physical strain. Whenever I climbed the stairs, I had to take a break after every 10 steps.

I started to drink alcohol regularly at the age of 19, about two to three times a week. Throughout the years I gradually drank more. At the end I drank one bottle of wine or a half to one bottle of brandy every single evening. I was afraid that somebody would notice that and so I drank mostly from Friday to Sunday. In the last 5 years I had tried to quit drinking several times. But after six or seven days I began to drink again.

Healing from alcohol addiction

R. S. (59), Bremen (Germany)

I started drinking alcohol when I was 16 years of age. For example, I drank 21 glasses of schnapps at an engagement party. After that I didn’t notice anything anymore. I also drank at social events such as fairs or gun club events, but above all at home-sweet wine or beer, for example. During my tour in the army 1963-66, I would drink a bottle of vermouth in particular on weekends. I drank especially heavily and continually during my 30 active years in merchant shipping. I started at 24 on a deep-sea fishing steamer and ended at 53 in April 1996 on a container ship.

Healing from alcohol addiction

G. F. (39), Cologne (Germany)

At 15 years of age I had already come into contact with alcohol through my friends. I often drank beer on weekends and at parties. My alcohol consumption increased continuously until I was 20, so that I was regularly drinking myself into a drunken stupor at least once a week. During my military service (1985 to 1989) my beer consumption amounted to up to 20 bottles of beer a day. At the time I wasn’t worried about addiction. For me "boozing" was just part of being a real soldier. As a "Teetotaller" you were an outsider. I can’t say exactly whether I was already dependent at that time because I was never without alcohol for longer than three days. I never drank on duty. As soon as I was off duty, however, I went straight to the supermarket with my empty bottles under my arm to buy more beer.

Healing from drug and alcohol addiction, as well as depression

A. K. (42), Kassel (Germany)

In the year 1986, at 27 years of age, I began to smoke hashish. Two years later LSD was added. After my divorce I was with another woman for two years. When that also came to nothing I became very depressed. I was listless, irritable, always tired and often felt dejected. Before I had completely come to terms with the first separation the pain of the second one came along. During this period I got to know some people who dealt in hard drugs (heroin, cocaine). After awhile I, too, sniffed a noseful of cocaine.

Healing from alcohol addiction

W. J. (44), Blieskastel (Germany)

I drank alcohol regularly for twenty years. Not necessarily during weekdays, but always at weekends. I went on drinking bouts. I did not drink during work hours and not because I needed to in order to cope with problems. I always avoided drinking alcohol because I became aware of my inability to think clearly afterwards and also started losing my desire for work. I drank after work.

Healing from alcohol addiction of many years duration

P. B. (66), Split (Croatia)

I began to drink alcohol at the age of 17. In the course of the last two decades I gradually drank more and finally drank about two liters of alcohol (Slivovitz and brandy) a day. In 1991, at the age of 60, I stopped drinking for two years because of bleeding peptic ulcers. But after that time I continued drinking despite all those warnings: 3 glasses of Slivovitz and brandy, five bottles of beer and 2 liters of wine. I just couldn't stop it.

Healing from alcohol addiction

I started to drink alcohol regularly at the age of 20. At the age of 30 I drank 11 to 12 half liter bottles of beer every single day and in the winter at work (at the harbor) I usually added a shot of alcohol to my coffee or tea. Since 1985 the problems I had - mood swings, depression, aggressiveness, nervousness “ increased tremendously. Sometimes I didn't have any concept of time. Because of all those problems my wife moved out of the house with our children.

Healing of alcohol dependency

I. B. (63), Verviers (Belgium)

At the age of 30 in 1970 I got a job in a cafe and drank alcohol there every day (about ten glasses or more a day of beer, whiskey, martinis, etc.). At 40 I changed jobs and worked in a large factory. After work I would often go to a café to drink a few glasses (beer and other alcoholic beverages). After going home I would continue drinking. My alcohol consumption increased over the years. When my son married and moved out I was 46 years old and my alcohol consumption again increased.

Healing from alcohol addiction (Help for others)

S. V. (56), Sittard (Netherlands), about her neighbor

We got new neighbors in March 2000. The woman lay in bed all the time and only got up to drink alcohol. You never saw her outside the flat the whole summer long. When her balcony door was open, the smell of beer was hardly bearable. They bought alcohol continually - a case of beer every day. When her son came to visit, he also brought beer along. Everyone else, too, who visited her drank alcohol. Her husband worked all day long.

Healing from alcohol dependence (Help for others)

J. P. (67), Zgierz (Poland), about her son

For several years my son had drunk two bottles of beer daily and in addition a lot of schnapps. I don’t know the exact daily amount, but I saw that he always had little schnapps bottles with him. Talking to him didn’t help. It would help for one or two days, then he would start drinking again. I didn’t know what I should do in this regard. I also looked into "Alcoholics Anonymous". He was supposed to go there for help, but he didn’t go. His marriage only hung on by a thread. The situation was critical, and his wife was talking about divorce.

Healing from alcohol addiction

H.-P. W. (54), Bielefeld (Germany)

In the year 1993 I began to regularly drink up to five litres of beer a day on weekends. I would really "hang one on", that is, I would get drunk. Back then I would hardly drink at all during the week-only on weekends-and I felt I had it well under control. That changed in 1996. I set my alcohol consumption at one and a half or two litres a day and didn’t get drunk anymore. I had become used to it. I was really drunk for the last time in 1996.

Healing from alcohol addiction

E. P. (55), Modena (Italy)

In the year 1992 I found myself in a very difficult time. My mother had died, and I had to care for my old father. My father was invalid because of his blindness and had a very difficult character. In addition to that I had to take care of my own family-my husband and two sons-and there was also my work. Without being aware of it I kept increasing the amount of wine I was drinking every day-about two glasses with meals more or less to have the strength to bear the great burden on my shoulders. I tried to stop but didn’t succeed; on the contrary it got worse and worse and the amount of wine kept increasing even when my duties decreased. All of this influenced my life and the people close to me. Sometimes when I was nervous and angry I would let out my aggression on my husband or my sons for no apparent reason or on ridiculous grounds. I tried to isolate myself from the others because I didn’t want them to notice what was going on with me but most of all because I was ashamed of it. I felt guilty but couldn’t stop. To overcome the yearning for wine I did Reiki and took Bach-blossom extract for months-without success.

Healing from alcohol and marijuana dependence

E. G. (39), Mistelbach (Austria)

When I was approximately ten years old I began to drink alcohol because I wanted to belong. Every day I went with my neighbour, a vintner, into his wine cellar to regularly drink wine (3-4 eighths, 375 ml). My parents were against this and forbade me to go, but I didn’t obey them. My school performance was also very weak. In the following years the amount kept increasing. At 14 I was already drinking a bottle of wine a day. When I began to go to discos during my job training I also drank high-proof on the weekends as well.
In 1985, at the age of 19, I first came into contact with drugs in the army. At first I smoked marijuana only on weekends. Due to an accident with my wrist followed by an operation when I was 12, I had severe wrist pain¸ especially whilst in the army and because of that I had increased my alcohol consumption so much that I often drank myself unconscious. Especially in the army I suffered so much from loneliness and lack of understanding that I wanted to put an end to my life.

Healing of alcoholism

Mr W. H. (37), Schleswig (Germany)

For ten years I had drinking problems. I only drank the "hard stuff" (whisky, brandy, etc.) and always more than necessary. I didn't drink every day but the quantity gradually increased. When my wife was on night duty, I consumed up to half a bottle of spirits. Because of this I took less and less notice of my wife and children.

In February 1990 I heard about the teachings of Bruno Gröning from my father. Through these teachings and by tuning in to the divine power I was able to stop drinking within fourteen days. It was not hard for me and, furthermore, I no longer have the desire for alcohol. I feel really relieved; it is as if a load has been taken off me and once again I get on well with my family.
